01

Preserve the employment record

Save the incident report, schedule, job assignment, training, restrictions, wage information, benefit communications, medical directions, and the names of witnesses and supervisors.

02

Identify every organization involved

A property owner, general contractor, subcontractor, staffing agency, equipment company, driver, or vendor may control separate records. Do not assume the employer is the only relevant organization.

03

Research overlapping systems

Workers’ compensation rules, employer notices, benefit deadlines, third-party claims, liens, and retaliation protections vary by jurisdiction. Prompt advice may be important.
